Ingredients

- 400 grams firm tofu
- 4 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Drain and press the tofu for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- Cut the pressed tofu into uniform 1-inch cubes.
- Whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil to make the sauce.
- Coat tofu cubes evenly in cornstarch.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry tofu until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Drain excess oil and place tofu on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Return the skillet to medium heat, add the honey garlic sauce, and simmer for 1 minute.
- Toss the crispy tofu in the sauce until evenly coated.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- This recipe is great served over rice or noodles.
- For a vegetarian option, substitute honey with maple syrup.
