Ingredients

Scale
  • 400 grams firm tofu
  • 4 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Drain and press the tofu for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into uniform 1-inch cubes.
  3. Whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil to make the sauce.
  4. Coat tofu cubes evenly in cornstarch.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry tofu until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Drain excess oil and place tofu on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Return the skillet to medium heat, add the honey garlic sauce, and simmer for 1 minute.
  8. Toss the crispy tofu in the sauce until evenly coated.
  9. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
