Description
A delicious vegan twist on the classic cheesesteak, packed with seitan, veggies, and creamy vegan cheese sauce.

- 550g thinly sliced seitan
- 120g small green bell pepper, sliced into strips
- 130g yellow onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 4 hoagie rolls, sliced ¾ of the way through
- 1–2 tbsp melted vegan butter (to spread on hoagies)
- 4–5 slices vegan provolone (about 60g)
- 2 tbsp vegan butter (30g)
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (15g)
- ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk (or other dairy-free milk)
Instructions
- Prepare the homemade vegan seitan beef according to your recipe or use store-bought seitan.
- Sauté the onions and peppers in a large skillet over medium heat for 5-8 minutes until tender.
- In a small pot, melt the vegan butter, then whisk in the flour for one minute.
- Slowly add the almond milk, stirring until combined, and then add the vegan provolone slices until melted and creamy.
- Spread melted vegan butter on the insides of the hoagie rolls.
- Spoon sautéed veggies onto the rolls, followed by a drizzle of the cheese sauce.
- Optionally, broil the assembled cheesesteaks for 1-2 minutes until golden and melty.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Adjust the amount of vegan butter based on your preference.
- Broiling the cheesesteaks is optional but adds a nice texture.
